GETTING TO CASARORO FALLS

You’ll find Casaroro Falls in Valencia, less than 30 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Dumaguete. The best way to get the falls is via scooter or motorbike, which you can rent for $8 USD a day. If you’re not comfortable driving a scooter, you can rent a car for $40 or take a tricycle from downtown, but make sure to barter for a reasonable price since it’s a “special ride” to the falls.

Once you get to the parking lot you’ll have to pay a $0.20 entrance fee, and from there the fun starts! It’s a steep trek on a paved path with over 300 steps for around 15 minutes until you reach the river. They’ve recently developed a path alongside the river that takes you all the way to falls, so all in all the trek should take you no longer than 30 minutes depending on pace.

The beauty of Casaroro Falls will hit you out of no where. You’ll hear it in the distance, but you won’t see it until you peep around a corner and there she stands, all 100ft of her. If you catch her in the right lighting (we went at midday), she practically glows against the forest greens. There’s plenty of space to swim and cool off after your hike, and big boulders that make the perfect spot to pose for photos.

After you’ve spent enough time swimming or simply admiring the beauty of Casaroro Falls, it’s time to make the trek up the seemingly never ending stairs. Once you’ve made it to the top there’s a restaurant where you can down some water and refuel from their tasty menu. We recommend their chicken and curried rice meal with a side of salsa and an ice tea for only $3.50. You won’t regret it.
