HOW TO GET TO THE SECRET BENT PALM TREE IN SIARGAO
The best way to get around Siargao is by motorbike. There are rentals everywhere but if you’re looking for a reliable rental, Fat Lips have scooters starting at $8 a day or XRMs for $7, including 2 helmets. Their motorbikes also come with surfboard racks for those of you who do want to catch some waves.
The secret bent palm tree in Siargao is in Talisay, about 15-20 minutes from General Luna. Follow our Google Maps pin to the turn off and keep an eye out for the blue chapel. This dirt road next to the chapel is where you’ll need to turn down. Motorbikes and narrow cars will be fine to make it all the way to the beach, but big cars will have to be left on the main road. Once you get to the beach, the secret bent palm tree is to the right of the parking area.
Klook.comWHEN TO GO TO THE SECRET BENT PALM TREE IN SIARGAO
The most important thing to keep in mind when planning when to visit the secret bent palm tree in Siargao is the tide. You want to avoid low tide here, since the sand makes way to a not so pretty looking bed of rocks. The first time Carson went (in another life, before Zowie… how dare he?) it was low tide and not nearly as Instagrammable as when we went to shoot in 2020. You’ll also want to go at sunrise or sunset for that golden glow on the horizon.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SECRET BENT PALM TREE SIARGAO
Unlike most places in Siargao, this little spot has managed to stay pretty low key. People tend to go to the other bent palm tree for their iconic Siargao pic, but we really love how quiet this beach is. We went late and had the whole beach to ourselves.
Be careful when you’re up on the tree, it may not look high but falling and landing on the rocks below the water is a nice way to smash your kneecaps. Aside from being home to the secret bent palm tree of Siargao, Talisay Beach is also a good little beginners surf spot that won’t be anywhere near as crowded as Secret Beach just up the road.
